Decisive Day Ahead for Croatian Players at the WTA Dubrovnik Open

After a calm opening day without surprises, the second day brings tougher tests and intriguing matchups. Croatian tennis fans eagerly anticipate tomorrow’s schedule, when all the home favorites will take to the Lapad courts. The day begins at 11 a.m. with Dubrovnik native Lucija Ćirić Bagarić facing Serbia’s Mia Ristić.

Immediately afterward, Tena Lukas takes the court, likely facing the toughest challenge of the day against fifth seed and experienced Ana Pavlyuchenkova.

Special attention will also be on Dubrovnik’s Ana Konjuh, who meets the tricky German Tamara Korpatsch.

The day concludes with top seed Petra Marčinko, who will play Serbia’s Teodora Kostović.

The opening day of the WTA Dubrovnik Open ended with the expected victories of the seeded players, who justified their roles as favorites and secured safe passage to the second round.

Second seed Veronika Erjavec of Slovenia defeated Spain’s Guiomar Maristany Zuleta de Reales 7–5, 6–4. It was a tightly contested match, but Erjavec showed greater composure at crucial moments, earning a deserved straight-sets win.

Third seed Mayar Sherif also did her job, defeating Germany’s Noma Noha Akugue 6–4, 6–4. Akugue entered the draw as a lucky loser after Anouk Koevermans withdrew due to illness. Despite strong resistance from the German, Sherif ultimately prevailed without any major upsets.

Sixth seed Suzan Lamens overcame Morocco’s Yasmine Kabbaj 6–3, 7–6. While the score suggests a routine win, the second set proved more competitive, with Lamens showing greater focus in the tie-break to close the match in two sets.

Unfortunately, Croatian players Tara Würth and Ana Petković were stopped in the final round of qualifying.
